Nor Cal - ACF Fiorentina Psycho-Motor ClinicLogo

FCA recognizes the need to develop Psycho-Motor skills in our younger players in order for them to be able to compete atthe highest level of play as they mature.  Psycho-Motor skills can be defined as psycho-meaning perception and motor-meaning movement. It is the ability to see, interpret and translate into movement all that surrounds you in a coordinated manner. Studies show that our youngest children, worldwide, are not getting enough of this "playground" skill development and so clubs must supplement this activity. Playground skills can be thought of as free play on climbing structures, playing tag, climbing on trees, running, jumping and just having fun.

Nor Cal Premier Soccer also sees this as a real need and so they have partnered with ACF Fiorentina of the Serie A in Italy. ACF Fiorentina is universally recognized as one of the premier youth development programs in not only Italy, but worldwide having sent numerous players to the National team. As part of the Nor Cal focus on Coaches Education they recently hosted a two day coaches clinic (ACF Fiorentina Basic) at the Davis Legacy Complex Jan 7-8.  With seven coaches in attendance FCA was one of the best represented clubs in Northern Calif.  Attending were Director of Comp Chris Rogers, Technical Director Reynaldo Montano and coaches Luis Molina, Karina Rangel, Freddy Dubon, James Quijano and Jaime Perez.

Movement is at the very center of young children’s lives. It is an important facet of all aspects of their development, whether in the motor, cognitive, or affective domains of human behavior. To deny children the opportunity to reap the many benefits of regular, vigorous physical activity is to deny them the opportunity to experience the joy of efficient movement, the health effects of movement, and a lifetime as confident, competent movers.

FCA Storm wins 2011 Premier Cross Regional Title

FCA Storm 2011

With rainouts and delays from June until December, Storm hosted CSCVS Magic Red Sun December 11 and won 4-0.  NorCal opened up a Cross Regional bracket to this age group in 2011 and after advancing through the Spring league Storm had playoff wins at Stockton 2-1 and at Pleasanton 4-1 the girls then dominated Sunday to win the title.  This also came on the heels of an undefeated fall league schedule that wrapped up Dec 10 with a 4-1 win over Walnut Creek.  Congratulations to FCA Storm and on to the Spring 2012 season.

Aug 2011  FCA Storm wins Davis Legacy Super Clasico in shootout
After a 2nd place finish in the Mustang Stampede last week, Storm went undefeated in winning the Davis Legacy tournament Aug 13 and 14.  Winning games against FC Elk Grove 4-2 and Heritage 2-0, the girls beat host Davis Legacy 2-1 Sunday morning with a goal on the final attack of the game and then beat Mustang in the championship.

A 1-1 game after two overtimes the game went to a shootout and five Storm girls put four goals in the net to win.  Host club Davis Legacy put on a good tournament for U9-U11 boys and girls that was well run and one the younger FCA teams might want to consider next summer.  FCA will host the U10 Girls Spring Cross Regional Championship in the next couple weeks against CSCVS Magic Red, look to the website for game time and location.

Apr 2011 FCA STORM U-10/11 GIRLS  Eye of the Storm Invitational
On April 23 we put together the Eye of the Storm Invitational and hosted the 2010 State Cup Premier Division "Final Four" in a round robin format.  El Dorado United Sol, Mustang Fury and Mustang Blast came over to Pinole Valley East to play a round of friendlies against our U-10/11 girls.  I'd like to thank our Competitive Dir. Keith Scott for helping reserve the field, Girl's Competitive Dir. Chris Rogers for providing a banner for the event and showing unquestioned support for the girls side.  George Dias helped round up some of our top young referees and we invited Coach Martinez and FCA Gremio to set up a snack booth to help raise funds for their team.  The other teams enjoyed the format so much that the next one is already planned and we'll be returning the favor with a trip to Sacramento on May 15.  I'd encourage our other teams to put together an event like this as it was a great experience and gave our club some nice exposure.

Dec 2010 Congratulations team Gremio - U11 NorCal State Cup Division 1 Silver Champions!
My name is Brandon Martinez and I'm the coach of the U11 boys team Gremio. We are a pure league team from the WCCYSL. This team all started off in  the WCCYSL recreational league and have grown up to be NorCal state Cup champions! With the never quit attitude and hard work they have and still continue to rise to the top.
Team Gremio was started in 2009 as a division 3 team and started off at the bottom. It was very frustrating showing up and losing every game our first season. Our team only continued to learn and trust as I knew they could do it. We did not quit or stop working in the off season.
The next year around we went undefeated in division 3 and moved up to division 1 making the finals last year in the state cup but falling short. We set another goal to win the state cup at a higher level.
Again with hard work & a never quit attitude we did it with  a 9-1 victory over Central Marin Arsenal. Not only did Gremio win the state cup in division 1 Silver they finished 2nd overall in division 1 for the fall season!  As a coach I could not ask for a better group of boys or parents. We have such great support both on and off the field it makes it easy. We also have a great Asst Coach Hector Jimenez & Manager Michelle Laman.  Thank you everyone for a great season and looking forward to 2011!  Congratulations team Gremio!

STORM TAKES 2ND PLACE STATEWIDE IN CA STATE CUP

What a fantastic Fall season for the Girls U10 Storm!  In league play, Storm was undefeated and won the Region 3/4 Premier Division.  State Cup ran in the middle of the league season, and the results of those games had Storm finishing with a record of 5-0-1.  Storm qualified and entered the Championship Round in Sacramento, putting their seeding at 4th.  With three of the eight teams from their league in the Quarters, Storm won their Quarterfinal game against Placer United,  3-0.  Two weeks later in Manteca, Storm won the Semifinal game against  the Mustang Blast with a final score of 5-0.  This win placed Storm into the Championship Game against last year’s champions, Sol of El Dorado United.  The final score of the Championship Game gave Sol of El Dorado a 1-0 win.

The season began with Storm having an overall ranking of 18th.  In the end, Storm finished in 2nd place in Northern California, in the top division for our age!  Thank you to all that helped make this year an amazing year of growth and success for our girls!  Coach Mike Alzagha put in the time and effort and utilized his past experience to mold this group of girls into champions.

Aug 2009 Storm took the Championship in Novato
Storm a new U9 girl’s team coached by Dave Silva, Erick Dimalanta and trainer Mike Alzagha, took the Championship in their age group at the 23rd Annual Novato Classic Tournament the weekend of Aug 8-9, 2009.  After being up at half time 2-1, the tournament began with a tough loss to the home team Novato United of 4-2.  However, Storm came back to shut out their next opponent 10-0.  The 3rd game was also a shut out of 7-0 to a Mustang team.   This put Storm in first place going into the championship game.  Storm beat their opponent in a hard fought game with the home team Novato United.  Their victory was a nail biter which came in overtime, with a final goal minutes before the final whistle blew!!!  The final score was 2-1.  This is an excellent result for Storm’s first sanctioned tournament.

Aug 2009 U12 Boys FCA Knights finished 2nd at Magic Cup III
New U12 Boys team, FCA Knights coached by Craig Nisbet, finished 2nd in the August 1-2, 2009 Magic Cup III Tournament in Morgan Hill.  Craig's team is a first year competitive team and this was there first tournament. They tied the first game 1 to 1 and won the second 9 to 1 and lost the third 5 to 1 but still played in the championship but loss 3 to 1. Overall pretty good for a team that has never played competitive and the brought home second place!  Go Knights!!!!

Aug 2009  U15 Boys Barcelona are the 2009 Diablo FC Summer Classic Champions!
Our U15 boys Barcelona coached by Cristiano Cassilhas won the DFC Summer Classic Champions. Their first game was against Davis Legacy Vipers. At half time Barcelona was up 1-0, controlling most of the game. During the second half Vipers came back and scored three goals. The final result was 3-1 giving us a loss. You'd think this would have a negative impact on the boys. Not so, they brushed that off and were ready for the second match of the day against Heritage Manchester. Our boys played a beautiful game! They fought with a lot of heart and it payed off. They won 1-0. The third game was against Mustang. Our boys were still focused and it definitely showed on the field. The 5-0 score said it all. This qualified them to move on to the championship. The championship game was played against the Vallejo Panteras. It was all that you can expect from a championship game. Our boys did not back down for one minute, they left their heart and soul on the field. We are all so proud on how focused and committed they were when that whistle blew to commence the match. It was a long fought battle but our boys never stopped fighting. The boys fought with hearts of champions. The final result was 1-0, making Barcelona the 2009 Diablo FC Summer Classic Champions! We are all so proud of how our young men represented themselves and WCCYSL.
